Joe Eshwar is the pseudonym of the well-known Indian writer, poet and filmmaker, Jomy George.

Biography

Jomy George, pen name Joe Eshwar, was born on 8th of February, 1975, in Kottayam, Kerala, South India. Eshwar's first book "Tessellated Pavements," was translated into four languages. It divided the poetic scenario of Indian English writing into two. It was lauded by O. V. Vijayan, Kerala's greatest writer, and Dr. Santa Bhattacharji of New College, Oxford. Eshwar thereafter was seen as a prodigy in England. His poetry was the most intellectually discussed. His films "Bogady" and "The Response" are considered as works that gave a contemporary form and charm to the craft of filmmaking.'The Response', a film made by Joe was screened during the Liverpool Film Night organised by FACTFact|date=May 2008http://www.fact.co.uk/news/?id=112. It was the closing film of the festival and was applauded by Mat Litler and Margie Clarke. Eshwar taught English Literary criticism in MIIL, a prestigious Language school in Kottayam, Kerala before leaving for the United Kingdom. He is married to Dani Augustine and lives in Liverpool.

His short stories include "Jennifer's got a mail" (1997), "Bogady" (1998), "Mysorinte Ormakkayi" (1999), "To the Land of tall trees" (1999), "Parameshwarapothuvaline Kanmanilla" (2000), "Sarovar" (2001), "The story of Ben Fisher" (2002), "The search" (2003), "The Labyrinth" (2004).
