The Church of St. George ( _am. Bete Giyorgis) is a monolithic church in Lalibela, Amhara Region, Ethiopia. It is the most well known and last built (early thirteenth century) of the eleven churches in the Lalibela area, and has been referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World".cite web | publisher=Tzu Chi Foundation | title=Lalibela:The Eighth Wonder of the World | url=http://taipei.tzuchi.org.tw/tzquart/2000fa/qf3.htm | accessdaymonth=10 November | accessyear=2006] The dimensions of the complex are 25 meters by 25 meters by 30 meters,cite web | publisher=Sacred Destinations | title=Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela | url=http://www.sacred-destinations.com/ethiopia/lalibela.htm | accessdaymonth=10 November | accessyear=2006] and there is a small baptismal pool outside the church, which stands in an artificial trench.
