Andrew Ryan (born 2 December 1978, Dubbo, New South Wales) is an Australian professional rugby league player for the Bulldogs in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. He previously played for the Parramatta Eels. Ryan usually plays in the second row, but can also play Lock.

Playing career

After three seasons with the Parramatta Eels, Ryan was unable to establish himself in the first-grade team and accepted a contract with the Bulldogs for 2003. His second season with the Bulldogs, 2004, was personally and professionally successful with a return to State of Origin, selection at international level and captaining the Bulldogs to a Grand Final win over the Sydney Roosters.

Representative selection

Ryan was selected to represent New South Wales as variously a second-rower or lock in five series to the end of 2007:
* games II and III of the 2001 State of Origin series
* games I and II of the 2004 State of Origin series
* games I, II and III of the 2005 State of Origin series
* games I and II of the 2006 State of Origin series
* games I, II and III of the 2007 State of Origin series
* He was selected at lock for the 2008 city V country clash at WIN stadium.

Ryan is also a mainstay of the Australian Kangaroos, appearing in three Tri-Nations series in 2004, 2005 and 2006 as well as a Test against France in 2005 and most recently in the 2007 ANZAC Test against New Zealand.
