Tyrone Smith (born circa 1975) is a sports news reporter and presenter on STV North's regional news programme, "
North Tonight ".Smith was born and bred in the
Bridge of Don suburb ofAberdeen to a long-serving teacher of Northfield Academy and a supply teacher who worked at various schools in his home city.Smith attended Scotstown Primary School,
Bridge of Don Academy andAberdeen University , where he studied politics and international relations. Latterly, he obtained a postgraduate diploma in journalism atStrathclyde University . Smith joinedGrampian Television (now "STV North") in 1998 as a production journalist. He later volunteered to become chief sports reporter/presenter for "North Tonight", a role which he continues to this day.Smith has also presented occasional programmes including "Trump Links", a documentary about plans by American billionaire
