Kirstin Gove (nee Haggarty, born circa 1973) is a STV North news presenter and journalist for "
North Tonight /North Today".Gove was born in
Glasgow but moved toAberdeen at the age of three. Both of her parents are former full-time teachers - her mother is now an occasional supply teacher for several schools in Aberdeen. Gove attendedAshley Road Primary School andAberdeen Grammar School . She later studied atAberdeen University for five years and graduated in 1995 with a MA Honours degree in German and International Relations. Shortly afterwards, she joined
Grampian Television (now "STV North") as a newsroom assistant. Within a year, Gove became the presenter of a regional sports programme and was an occasional presenter of "North Tonight". During her time at the station, Gove has presented other regional programmes including "Testimony", "Off The Wall", "Inquisition", "The Buck Stops Here", "Grampian Weekend" and "Grampian Midweek". She has also worked atWestminster as a production journalist.Now part-time, Gove is a presenter of late morning, lunchtime & late night bulletins and the local opt-out for the North of the region as well as occasional weekend bulletins. She is also a stand-in presenter on the main edition of North Tonight and a presenter/producer for STV North's video blog "Northern Exposure", regularly answering questions arising from the popular feedback strand, "Ask Kirstin".
She is married with two children.
