His position of choice is on the wing.Steve Michaels will be looking to make up for lost time in 2007 after a disappointing last year. He broke into first grade but then fractured his ankle and had to spend over three months on the sideline. He made his belated return to the Queensland Cup and performed so well was considered for elevation back to the NRL just before the finals. He missed out but did play in the State League decider. However 'Ralphie' - Steven's father Ralph was a great centre for Brisbane Norths in the 1970s - will be hoping he sees a lot more NRL than Queensland Cup in 2007.
Michaels played in every minute of every game for the 2007 season, and his good form was rewarded when he was selected to play in the Prime Ministers XIII against PNG at the end of the season. But Michaels pulled out of the game when he had, what was suspected, pneumonia.
