Prince Ganlook of Graustark

Prince Ganlook of Graustark

The fictional Prince Ganlook was the earliest mentioned ruler of Graustark of the Graustark novels. Ganlook's wife, the princess, was sister to the country's later Count. In the 1870s Graustark was at war with the neighboring north country Axphain. On November 20th Ganlook was killed by Axphain's troops, apparently in a last stand against them. Graustark told Axphain that in fifteen years a great sum would be paid to the country. Ganlook had a daughter named Yetive who ruled the country as Princess at the end of the fifteen years who was forced to set an arranged marriage, though it was later foiled. Where Ganlook fell a bronze statue was placed, marking his last action.
