Lisa Findley is a registered
architect who writes primarily in public venues to expand the discussion aboutarchitecture and its position as a visual and cultural practice in a rapidly changing world. Her architectural education was underpinned by undergraduate work inenvironmental science and policy as well aspolitical theory . As a result, her reading, research, and writing crosses over into many other fields including culturalgeography andanthropology , cultural andpostcolonial studies, andlandscape architecture ,natural history , andcartography . She is a frequent participant in conferences in architecture, geography, and cultural studies. Findley has taught and lectured widely, including at universities inMalaysia ,Australia andSouth Africa , as well as within her nativeUnited States . She has traveled extensively, both as an architectural journalist and an academic, in pursuit of an ever-increasing understanding of the roles architecture and space play within the dynamics of culture and power. She is currently anAssociate Professor at theCalifornia College of the Arts inSan Francisco where she coordinates theMaster of Architecture program. She is also a contributing editor forArchitectural Record and has written for numerous other publications includingArchitecture (magazine) ,Harvard Design Magazine ,World Architecture ,Architecture Australia ,Architecture South Africa andBaumeister .
