- Pathfinder March
The Pathfinder March is an annual 46-mile (74 kilometre) long-distance walk in
Cambridgeshire ,England . The walk, which typically draws between three- and five-hundred participants, commemorates the role of theRoyal Air Force Pathfinder Force in theSecond World War .The event, beginning and ending at the Royal Air Force Base at Wyton, is scheduled for the closest Saturday to Mid-Summers Day. Due to the strenuous nature of this event, and its proximity to the middle of summer many do not complete the event.
The route, minus the beginning and end inside RAF Wyton is signposted and open all year.
The Route
Walkers have twenty hours, starting at 0400 to complete the route. The route encompasses
RAF Wyton ,Godmanchester , Gravely Airfield, Gravely,Papworth Everard , Elsworth, Childerly,Dry Drayton ,Oakington , Oakington Airfield, Longstanton,Bluntisham , Colne,Somersham ,Warboys , Warboys Airfield andKings Ripton .A small section of the
Ouse Valley Way is used on the Pathfinder March.References
