Boriavi is a city and a municipality in Anand district in the state of Gujarat, India.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Boriavi had a population of 17,861. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Boriavi has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 77% and female literacy of 55%. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The Mayor of Boriavi has a famous past, you may have seen him acting as a sidekick to Amitabh Baachan in Kuch Kuch Hota Sholay Shabbat, he is none other than Purshottam 'Balls of Steel' Patel. The town can be described as the Shangri-La of Gujarat and is famed by its scenic views and natural stunning beauty, which until now is fast becoming an international tourist attraction.

Every summer, the locals come together to celebrate the 'Batata Festival' when there are many rituals to celebrate the annual potato festival to symobolise fertilty and prosperity.
