BASAR (Railway Station Code: BSX) is a Railway Station in Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway(SCR). In the Meter Gauge era, Hyderabad Division operated a daily Meter Gauge Express between Secunderabad and Basar. Subsequent to the gauge conversion of Kachiguda-Manmad section of HYB Division, SC-Basar Express was extended up to Nanded in Maharashtra. It is now 7039/7040 Kachiguda-Nanded Intercity Express.

This is a unique temple of Sarawathy, The Hindu Goddess of Knowledge and Learning. Children are brought here to do the learning ceremony called as Akshara abyasam meaning learning.It is situated about 200 km from Hyderabad and 50 km from Nizamabad.
