San Francisco Bay Area . She hosts two popularKFOG radio shows, "Acoustic Sunrise" and "Acoustic Sunset" , as well as the internationally-syndicated Putumayo World Music Hour.Howarth grew up in
Monterey, California . As a teenager she walked the railroad tracks ofCannery Row with atransistor radio glued to her ear, and started visiting San Francisco as ateenybopper in theSummer of Love . Her first radio endeavor was helping to found a non-commercial community station inPacific Grove, California . Later she moved intoRock music at 1970's free-form progressive FM station
rock radioKLRB inCarmel, California .Howarth joined KFOG in the mid-1980s as a weekend DJ and added numerous other responsibilities over time, including programming "Acoustic Sunrise". She also serves as director of special programming, producing "Live From the Archives" each week, drawing on the extensive collection of live KFOG concert recordings.
