Cathy Inglese

Cathy Inglese

Cathy Inglese was the head women's basketball coach at Boston College in Massachusetts, United States until she abruptly "resigned" following a 21 win 2007-08 season featuring second round exits from both the ACC tournament, vs # 5/6 Maryland, and the Women's National Invitational Tournament, vs St. Johns's. The National Invitational Tournament, or NIT, is for teams that don't make the NCAA Division 1 Tournament commonly known as March Madness. She posted 20 win seasons in 7 out of the last 8 seasons, and guided her team to 3 consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearances, including defeating Number 1 seed Ohio State in the 2005 Women's NCAA Tournament. Her teams also qualified for 5 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, and 7 out of the last 8 tournaments. She resigned from her position on April 10th, 2008.

In 2004, her team earned their first ever Big East Championship. That year, the Eagles won a school record 27 games. Inglese won her 300th career game in December as well.

Prior to becoming the coach at BC, she served as the head coach at the University of Vermont. She put together a string of 57 consecutive regular season wins over 2 seasons going 28–0 in 1992, and 29–0 in 1993. She posted a 120–74 record overall at Vermont.
