Daughters of Mary The Congregation of the Daughters of Mary is a missionary congregation in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. With the blessing of Archbishop Mar Ivanios, Monsignor Joseph Kuzhinjalil founded the missionary congregation of the Daughters of Mary in 1938 at Marthandom in Kanyakumari District.This name was also used in Chicago and other cities by Latino lay persons who called it the Hijas de Maria and Damas de Maria and followed the same purpose.The primary mission of the Congregation is to bring the Good News to the poor the neglected concentarating on the families for their integral development.In Chicago's St. Michaels in Old Town Church,Latinos became a strong voice in the city from the mid fifties to the mid sixties.
The Daughters of Mary Congregation was raised to Pontifical Status in 1988. At present it has 4 provinces 2 vice provinces serving the six eparchies of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and 20 other dioceses world wide.
