Alangayam is a panchayat town in Vellore district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located near Vaniyambadi, a town best known for its Leather Industries.

Geography

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Alangayam had a population of 16,846. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Alangayam has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 56% of the males and 44% of females literate. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
