Anthony Bean Community Theater

Anthony Bean Community Theater

Anthony Bean Community Theater and Acting School (ABCT) was established the Spring of 2000 to meet the demands of New Orleans area residents interested in learning and participating in dramatic art. ABCT offers day and evening classes in dramatic arts, including both acting, stage design and management. Other than ABCT, few professional theater companies that provide an open enrollment school for children and adults exist in the southern United States. In the summer, the theater hosts an acting camp for young New Orleans actors between ages of 7-18. The theater has presented numerous hit plays such as August Wilson's "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" and a stage version of Stephen King's "Misery". The company still continues to teach and perform despite the damage done to the community by Hurricane Katrina.
