Gerry O'Callaghan

Gerard O'Callaghan ( _ga. Ghearóid Ó Ceallachacháin) was a Provisional Irish Republican Army volunteer from Benburb, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

O'Callaghan joined the IRA in the 1970s and was arrested along with fellow IRA volunteer Padraig McKearney in 1980. He was sentenced for possession of weapons and IRA membership in 1981. During his time in prison he was a H-Block blanketman. Upon his release O'Callaghan returned to active service with the IRA.. [A Secret History of the IRA", Ed Moloney, 2002. He was killed along with seven other IRA members and one civilian on May 8 1987 in a pre-planned Special Air Service ambush.
