Oxford Community School is a state funded secondary school for children aged 11–18 in the east of the city of Oxford, England.

The school has a co-educational student body of some 1,100, and has specialist Business and Enterprise College status. The student body is drawn from across the city, though the majority of pupils are from the Cowley, Rose Hill, East Oxford, Donnington, and Blackbird Leys areas of the city.

History

The school was originally established at its current Glanville Road site in 1962, following a merger between Southfield Grammar School and the Oxford High School for Boys. The school was a single-sex grammar school for boys until around 1976, when it became fully comprehensive. A reform of the educational system in the City of Oxford in the 1990s saw the school merge with Milham Ford Girls School and become co-educational. The student body was subsequently expanded as a result of further local educational reforms, at which point a host of new facilities were developed. 2005 has seen the School gain Business and Enterprise status providing extra funding for a state of the art conference centre. Further success was achieved during the summer of 2006, the School recorded their best ever GCSE results. Current members of staff include: Mr Tim Davies, Mr Tony Drake, Mr Emmanuel Botwe and Mr Hugh Simpson who by a number of pupils is the best english teacher in the school and happeneds to be liked by all.

The school has long had a very varied and multicultural student body, reflecting the community in which it is based, and can claim to be the city's most 'international' school. The school's work with refugee children and those for whom English is not their first language has been notable.

The Beggining Of 2008 Oxford Community School Became A Foundation School, The School Have Recived 3 Flags Which Can Be Seen At The Very Front Of The School. And Is Also An Eco-Friendly School.

Oxford Community School is open throughout the day, through the year, and is utilised by a wide range of community groups including the Afro Caribbean After School Group, and the Chinese Community Association.

Notable former pupils include Lawrence of Arabia (Oxford High School for Boys), Ronnie Barker (Oxford High School for Boys), Gary Parker (professional footballer with Nottingham Forest and Leicester City), and Jermaine McSporran (professional footballer with Wycombe Wanderers, Doncaster Rovers, and Chester City).
