Baron Blyth

Baron Blyth

Baron Blyth, of Blythwood and of Stanstead Mountfichet in the County of Essex, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1907 for James Blyth. He was a Director of the gin making firm of W. & A. Gilbey as well as an expert on wine culture and wine commerce. Before his elevation to the peerage, Blyth had been created a Baronet, of Chelmsford in the County of Essex, in 1895. As of 2007 the titles are held by his great-grandson, the fourth Baron, who succeeded his father in 1977.

The family seat is the Blythwood Estate, near Athenry, Co Galway, in the Republic of Ireland.
