Leingarten consists of the formerly independent municipalities Großgartach und Schluchtern, both have grown seamlessly together since they merged.

Leingarten's twin municipalities are Lésigny in
France (since May 1975) and Asola inItaly (since October 30st 2004). Lésigny and Asola are also twin municipalities of each other, because of this Leingarten calls this partnership a trilateral partnership.Buildings
Visible from afar is Leingarten's trademark, the Heuchelberger Warte (Heuchelberg Watch), built 1483 by Duke Eberhard I. of Württemberg. It is now a well liked trip destination with an inn.
