Peter Daniel (Pete) Munro (born
June 14 ,1975 inFlushing, New York ) is a formerstarting pitcher inMajor League Baseball who played for theToronto Blue Jays (1999-2000) andHouston Astros (2002-2004). He batted and threw right-handed.After being selected by the
Boston Red Sox in the 1993 draft, Munro was sent by Boston to the Toronto Blue Jays in 1998 in the same transaction that broughtMike Stanley to the Red Sox.Munro debuted with Toronto in 1999. After pitching in part of two seasons he was traded to the Houston Astros. His career highlight came on June 11, 2003, when he combined with Houston pitchers
Roy Oswalt ,Kirk Saarloos ,Brad Lidge ,Octavio Dotel , andBilly Wagner to throw the firstno-hitter against theNew York Yankees in 45 years. The Astros sextet also set a major league record for the highest number of pitchers to throw a no-hitter.In a five-season career, Munro posted a 13-19 record with 189
strikeout s and a 4.88 ERA in 315-1/3innings pitched . Another highlight in Munro's career is in the 2004 NLCS he got the ball in game 2 and game 6.(In Game 6 he was picked to start over arguably the greatest pitcher of our generationRoger Clemens .)Munro started 2006 pitching for the
Rochester Red Wings , a Triple-A affiliate of theMinnesota Twins . He signed withUni-President Lions ofTaiwan 'sChinese Professional Baseball League in March 2007, and was selected to the CPBL All-Star Game in July. Munro has signed with theYork Revolution of theAtlantic League for the 2008 season.He then was injured and released by the york revolution in 2008.External links
