Assan barrage

The Assan barrage is a wetland in the Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border region (Dehradun District), northern India, situated at the confluence of the Yamuna Canal and the Assan River.

It is known as an important bird sanctuary, attracting a large variety of water-fowl, while the adjacent Sal forest is home to many woodland and scrubland bird species.

The Assan River has been identified with the "Asmanvati" of the Rigveda.
