Vientiane (Lao ວຽງຈັນ) is a province of
Laos , located in the northwest of the country.1989 the province was split into two halves - theVientiane prefecture containing the cityVientiane itself, and the remaining province.Administrative divisions
The province is made up of the following districts:

# Hinhurp (10-09)
# Hom (10-11)
# Kasy (10-04)
# Keo Oudom (10-03)
# Mad (10-08)
# Phonhong (10-01)
# Thoulakhom (10-02)
# Vangvieng (10-05)
# Viengkham (10-10)
# Xaisomboun (10-12)
# Xanakharm (10-07)The districts Hom and Xaisomboun were added from the now dissolved special zone Xaisomboun in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
