Jean-Pierre Hébert

Jean-Pierre Hébert has been an independent artist of algorithmic art, drawings, and mixed media since the 70's. He is a co-founder of the Algorists in 1995. The other co-founder is with Roman Verostko.

Career

Hébert lives and works in Santa Barbara, California. He is a pioneer in the field of computer art, merging traditional art media and techniques, personal software, plotters, and custom built devices to create an original body of works. He was the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation award.

Work

Hébert produces works on paper, icluding ink and pencil drawings, paintings, etchings and dry points from polymer and copper plates, and recently digital prints. He also creates sand installations, algorithmic visual music, works for wall displays, physics based algorithmic pieces, and many more things. His work has been exhibited extensively and has been frequently juried in the Siggraph Art Gallery.

Community activities

Since 2003, he has been an artist in residence at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), where he has organized several group shows.
