IPED refers the graduate and undergraduate programs in International Political Economy and Development at
Fordham University inThe Bronx ,New York . The programs combine faculty from the departments of economics, political science, sociology and history and aim at the interdisciplinary study of the global economy. The department is an affiliate member ofThe Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) and is also affiliated with the U.S.Peace Corps through the Peace Corps Fellows program.Degree Programs
The IPED graduate program offers a master's degree which consists of core courses in
economics ,econometrics andinternational politics . The IPED program also offers specializations in the following areas:Comparative and International Politics
International Development Studies
Emerging Markets and Country Risk Analysis
International Banking and Finance
International and Development Economics
IPED students also have the option of pursuing a dual master's degree in economics or a doctorate in economics at Fordham. The program also has a dual degree program in conjunction with the Fordham University School of Law. IPED alumni have gone on to pursue careers in the private, public and non-profit sectors. A smaller but consistent number of alumni have also continued to pursue education in law, business and the social sciences.
The IPED graduate program is the largest program in Fordham's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences with an incoming class of 35 students. Approximately half of the current students are from outside the U.S., while nearly all have experience overseas through programs such as the
Peace Corps and university sponsored study abroad programs. Nearly all students are also proficient in a second language.The program runs a weekly IPED lecture series inviting alumni and international affairs practitioners to speak about a range of political and economic topics. The program also produces two student run newsletters, "Emerging Markets Watch" and "Current Issues in Development" in addition to cataloguing student research through the Emerging Markets Project.
The undergraduate program offers a major in
