Graham Dene

Graham Dene (born April 7, 1949) is a British radio personality.

Education

Graham was educated at the independent Mill Hill School in Mill Hill, North London. He left there at sixteen years old.

Early career

Graham began his broadcasting career at the radio station at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington in London, before moving to the United Biscuits Network, based at the United Biscuits factory in Osterley, west of London, working alongside the likes of Nicky Horne, Roger Scott and Adrian Love. He then moved to 194 Radio City in Liverpool prior to a 17-year tenure at Capital Radio (broadcasting on both Capital FM and Capital Gold during his time with the company, remembered best for his decade as breakfast host).

Virgin

Graham moved to the new national station Virgin 1215 in April 1993, initially as weekend breakfast presenter, before being promoted to the weekday afternoon show in January 1994 taking over from Kevin Greening, who had left to join BBC Radio 1. In mid 1996 Graham took over the mid-morning show before leaving the station altogether in 1998.

Magic

In 1999, following Emap's acquisition of Melody FM, rebranded as Magic 105.4 in January that year, Graham replaced Tony Myatt on the drivetime show, before moving to breakfast, and joining fellow colleague ex-Virgin programme controller Richard Skinner. In September 2005, Graham was replaced on the breakfast show by former Capital Radio drivetime host Neil Fox, and returned to the late afternoon shift, on-air weekdays from 5pm to 8pm. He left Magic in September 2007.

102.2 Smooth Radio

Graham joined 102.2 Smooth Radio as breakfast presenter on 1 January 2008, replacing Russell Pockett, who had been covering the show since April 2007. His holiday cover is Tony Blackburn.
