Standards in Public Office Commission

Standards in Public Office Commission

The Standards in Public Office Commission (the Standards Commission) is an independent body established in December 2001 by the Irish Government under the Standards in Public Office Act, 2001. (It replaced the Public Offices Commission which was established in November 1995 by the Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995.)

The legislation limits donations to political parties in Ireland; defines prohibited donations and sets out annual reporting procedures. The Commission is also responsible for Codes of Conduct by politicians, office holders, and civil servants.
