Acts Interpretation Act 1901

The Acts Interpretation Act 1901 (often abbreviated to the AIA (Cth)) is an Australian federal law which determines ways in which other Acts should be interpreted. Such rules include that case, number, person and gender are all unimportant in grammatical terms. The AIA also provides rules for statutory interpretation, including that second readings speeches of ministers may be used in determining intention of a statute.
