"Kickstart My Heart" is a song by the American rock band
Mötley Crüe , originally released on their 1989 album, "Dr. Feelgood". The song was written byNikki Sixx about his famous overdose in which he was declared clinically dead before being revived by two adrenaline shots to the heart. The video clip was shot in theWhisky-A-Go-Go during the Mötley Crüe's warm up show before embarking on the Dr. Feelgood Tour. For the 'Carnival of Sins' tour 2005, "Kickstart My Heart" was used as the band's closing song of a concert.Released as the album's second single in 1989, "Kickstart My Heart" reached #27 on the
Billboard Hot 100 charts in the United States. [Whitburn, Joel. "The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits", 6th ed, Billboard Publications, Inc. 1996. ISBN 0-8230-7632-6] The introduction is a classic example of aFloyd Rose bridge trick, in whichMick Mars drops 3 consecutive strings resulting in sound similar to a car shifting gears.Starts with 'The Stripper' and uses the same riff as 1973 song; 'Hell Raiser' by 70s band The Sweet.
