Lance Blanks (born
September 9 1966 , inDel Rio, Texas ) is a retired American professionalbasketball player who was selected by theDetroit Pistons in the first round (26th overall) of the1990 NBA Draft . A guard, Blanks played for the Pistons andMinnesota Timberwolves in 3 NBA seasons, averaging 2.0 ppg. He played collegiately at theUniversity of Virginia and theUniversity of Texas at Austin . Blanks and teammatesTravis Mays andJoey Wright were known as the "BMW Scoring Machine" during the 1989-90 basketball season. That Longhorn team finished second in theSouthwest Conference and advanced to theElite Eight in the1990 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament .Blanks is currently the assistant general manager of the
