Richard Causton, 1st Baron Southwark

Richard Knight Causton, 1st Baron Southwark (1843 – 23 February 1929) PC DL was a British Liberal Party politician.

He was unsuccessful parliamentary candidate for Colchester in 1874, 1885, and 1886, and sat for that seat from 1880 until 1885. He then sat for Southwark West from 1888-1910. He was a Junior Lord of the Treasury, 1892-1895 and continued as Liberal Whip until 1905. He served as Paymaster-General from 1905-1910. He was appointed a Privy Counsellor in 1906. On his retirement from the House of Commons he was created Baron Southwark, and this title became extinct on his death.

He was President of the London Chamber of Commerce in 1913, a Fellow of the Statistical Society, and Master of the Worshipful Company of Skinners in 1877-1878 and 1921-1922.
