Theodore Roosevelt Darby (born
March 2 ,1902 , date of death unknown), better known as Blind Teddy Darby, was an Americanblues singer andguitarist .Darby was born in Henderson,
Kentucky . He moved toSt. Louis with his family when he was a child. His mother taught him to play guitar. In 1960 he was "rediscovered" and recorded by
Pete Welding ofTestament Records , yet the recordings from this session were never released.In the late 1930s he gave up the blues and became an ordained deacon.
His song "Built Right On The Ground" has been covered (under the title of "I Never Cried"), from the 1970s onwards, by quite a few other musicians, amongst them John Miller (who first changed the title),
Roy Book Binder ,Howard Bursen , andPhil Heywood .References
