Austin Stacks is a Hurling and Gaelic football club based in Tralee in County Kerry, Republic of Ireland [cite web |url=http://www.austinstacks.ie/index.html|title=Club site, football and hurling|accessdate=2008-04-06] . It is proud to have more All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals and all stars than any other GAA club in IrelandFact|date=April 2008. They have many notable players at the top of the rock such as Joe Barrett, Mikey Sheehy, Ger Power, John O'Keeffe, Cork's Denny Long, Pa Laide, William Kirby and Kieran Donaghy who won player of the year after leading Kerry to success in 2006.

Currently

The club has prospered off the fied in recent years, the construction of brand new state of the art dressing rooms was finished and opened in 2005. Along with dressing rooms the building contains a function room, and a fully functioning and top quality gym. The actual playing pitch itself underwent major surgery in the winter and summer of 2007 and although the finishing touches are yet to be put in place, it is evident that the pitch has improved ten fold. On the field however the club has been starved of success lately. The team is in transition but continues to underperform. Despite this however the Stacks remain competitive in every fixture of every competition and with the average age of the starting team of this years championship at only 22.3 years of age the future is indeed bright, its amber. The current joint-senior management team is Eoin Moynihan, Patrick Slattery and Jerry Fitzmaurice. Stacks were relegated in 2007 from Division 1 of the Kerry Senior Football league, it was the first time the club suffered relegation since 1998. The Rock have not won a County Championship since 1994 captained then by current trainer Pat Slattery. The closest they have come since then has been a final defeat to An Ghaeltacht in the 2001 decider. The youths in the club are doing very well with high numbers in all age groups. Underage teams continuously wipe the floor with their town counterparts when it comes to underage success. Indeed the juvenile section of the club is the most successful in Ireland when it comes to honours.Town rivals include Kerins O'Rahilly's, John Mitchels and Na Gaeil. The famous black and amber colours of the club are well known throughout Ireland. The current chairman of the club is Ger Reidy. The current club captain is Dara Long, son of great club servant Denny.

"Austin Stacks v Kenmare"

Time and Date to be Announced

Sorry about the delay in coming up with a preview for this seriously important game for both the the Senior Panel and the Club. It goes without saying that this is the most important competition that the club partakes in, no disrespect to the Ladies, Hurlers or the Juveniles, as it is how we as supporters rightly or wrongly gauge the health of the club. After observing what was generally regarded as one of the greatest club games played in the modern era within the county bounds, Dr Crokes v Kerins O'Rahillys, it would not be disingeneous to say that we have a lot of work to do, but if ever we had a chance to progress the draw has surely provided it.

Kenmare are not a heavyweight district team, many would say neither are we anymore, they will present a serious challange to our inexperienced team which is having difficulty in gelling as a team as the players try to figure out their strengths and weaknesses. Kenmare are no daws, any team which includes the scoring machine that is Paul O'Connor cannot be taken lightly, however we have to approach this fixture with confidence and try to break the shackles that we seem to be carrying through the Division 2 campaign.

Anyone who has watched the training sessions in Connolly Park knows that it is not lack of effort and greater football brains than me cannot put a finger on the reasons why we are underperforming, I am not going to offer any reasons just cross my fingers that some of the hugely talented players on our panel wake up some morning soon and realise just how good they are, and finally come out of the blocks in a game and not put themselves under such huge pressure to get results.

I urge all Rockies super or otherwise to stand behind the group of players which are making huge efforts under the tuteledge of Eoin, Gerry and Pa and give them the kind of support that any team which wears the Black and Amber with pride in the County Championship they deserve.
