Ivan Savvidi

Ivan Ignatyevich Savvidi, (b. March 27, 1959 in Santa, Tsalksky Region, Georgia), is a Russian businessman of Greek Pontian descent who is interested in purchasing one of Greece's most popular sport clubs PAOK of Thessaloniki. The club has a personal meaning to Savvidi as its origins begin from Greek refugees of Anatolia. If this purchase goes through, it would give Savvidi full control over the sporting culb and all its assests. The millionaire business tycoon has also expressed interest in purchasing the hallowed turf of Toumba, Thessaloniki, with plans to rebuild and turn one of Northern Greece's biggest sporting clubs into a profitalbe franchise. Savvidi, a graduate of Rustov Institute of National Economy, has held numerous high ranking positions, from Deputy to the State Duma of the Russian Federation to Chairman of FC SKA Rostov-on-Don. He is married to Kyriaki Savvidi, the couple have two sons, Giorgos and Nikos Savvidi. He is also the president of the Federation of Greek Communities of Russia, and was a key figure in pushing for the newly created region by World Council of Hellenes Abroad for the Greeks of the diaspora in the Black Sea countries.
