United States Mint coin production

United States Mint coin production

Notes

* Production values for each year are the sum of all facility outputs of business strike coins. It should be understood that usually, but not always, the annual production is the same as the number of coins dated that year. The modern exception occurred during the transition from silver coinage when 1964 dates were frozen for the following year. Both 1965 and 1966 coins were produced in 1966, all without mintmarks.
* In 1909, both Lincoln and Indian Head designs were used for 1¢ coins.
* In 1916, both the Mercury and Barber designs were used for the 10¢ coins.
* In 1916, both the Standing Liberty and Barber designs were used for the 25¢ coins.
* In 1921, both the Peace and Morgan designs were used for the $1 coins.
* In 1938, both the Buffalo and Jefferson designs were used for 5¢ coins.
* In 1942, both the nickel and 35% silver planchets were used for 5¢ coins. [cite web | author = Sol Taylor |url= http://www.scvhistory.com/scvhistory/signal/coins/sg070905-coins.htm | title= U.S. coin changes in WWII | publisher= Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society | accessdate=2005-07-09]
* In 1964 all $1 coins minted that year are supposed to have been melted at the mint.
* In 1975 and 1976 all 25¢, 50¢, and $1 coins were dated 1776-1976.
* In 1982, both the bronze and copper-plated zinc planchets were used for 1¢ coins.
