Dolf Sternberger (July 28, 1907, Wiesbaden - July 27, 1989, Frankfurt/Main) was a German philosopher and political scientist at the University of Heidelberg. Dolf Sternberger is known for his Concept of Citizenship in German Political Contemporary Thought and for coining the term "constitutional patriotism".

Sternberg is one of the founders of German politics in the postwar period. It is next to Hannah Arendt, Leo Strauss, Eric Voegelin and other political scientists of his generation in the broad sense to the representatives of the normative approach in political science, which he also understood as an empirical science at the same time (Vogel, 2008). With a contribution of 30 Anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Law (1979) coined the term Sternberger constitutional patriotism.
