genus_authority = Pate, 1947"Araucania" is a tiny genus of sapygid wasps from
South America , containing a single known species. This species was originally described under the genus name "Laura" (by Reed in 1930) but this name was already in use for acrustacean named in 1883. Ironically, after Pate described this wasp genus, four other authors named genera "Araucania" only to be forced to replace "those" names, in turn.
