Greg Newton (born
September 7 ,1974 inNiagara Falls, Ontario ) was center for theDuke Blue Devils basketball team from 1994-1997. Newton was Team Captain in his senior season. Tim Duncan was told that Newton had called him soft, he cited Newton's dubious credentials and facetiously asked how anyone could argue with that. Newton played professionally with the
USBL 'sRaleigh Cougars . The Cougars promoted him by citing his greatest accomplishment - at the time, he was one away from Duke's top 10 in blocks.Newton also played professionally in Brazil, Israel, and Bosnia.
