The Cat's Tale

The Cat's Tale is a short story by R.L. Stine about a girl named Maria who moved to a new house with her family. While in her new room, a black cat jumped from her window. She named her Misty, since it was a rainy night. One day, while trying to jump from the high dive, someone (or something) scratched Maria from behind. She started to hear a voice telling her she is going to take over her body. She is also behaving like a cat. She realized that it was Misty who is causing all this: she is the one who scratched her and she is that voice speaking to her. Misty tells her, before she lives her nine lives, she will have Maria's body. The story is very similar to, and probably inspired, the first "Goosebumps Series 2000" book, "Cry of the Cat".
