Spain with more than 3,000,000 listeners. The station was founded in1966 and in2006 the station celebrated its 40th anniversary.This radio station in owned by Grupo PRISA.

In February 2008, Los 40 Principales Chile ended its broadcasting and started its merger with FM Hit, Chile's most listened youth radio station (This was because of the purchase of the former CRC "Ibero American Radio Chile" by Grupo Prisa España. Ibero American was the former owner of FM Hit). With this merge it was created the new project called Hit40 which currently operates on the dial belonging to FM Hit, and whose existence period would last until early 2009, the date in which it is stipulated the return of the name 40 Principales to this new station, as a final stage of the merger radio.
