Turtling is the hunting of turtles, a practice formerly a big part of the economy in many nations of the West Indies. In recent times, however, it has become outlawed.

Turtle hunting was a big part of feeding families in North America, the Midwest in particular, in the the 1930s.Fact|date=July 2007

Throughout the world, hawksbill turtles are taken by humans even though it is illegal to hunt them in many countries. In some parts of the world, hawksbill turtles are taken and eaten as a delicacy.
