Michael Kibbe

Michael Kibbe (born 1945, San Diego, U.S.A.) is a composer of music mostly for winds. He began composing in middle school and high school with a few ill-fated pieces for band. He attended San Diego State College for three years, where he wrote his "Wind Quintet #1". He has written many pieces for a variety of ensembles, some very interesting, as shown in his "Duo Concertante for Flute and Clarinet" which is scored for piccolo, alto flute, and bass clarinet, in addition to the flute and clarinet soloists. His trio for flute, clarinet, and oboe has a distinctly Hindemith-like feel to it, but Kibbe's style is also unique. He continues to work and write new pieces. Up to this date, he has written over 150 pieces, including 12 woodwind quintets, 9 Concerti, and many pieces for assorted ensembles. His pieces have been performed in the United States, Europe, Israel, Mexico, and China.

He received college training and/or degrees from San Diego State University, New Mexico State University, California State University, Northridge, an UCLA. He is a woodwind performer, primarily on oboe, bassoon, and flute.
