Cymaeans

Cymaeans

The name Cymaeans may refer to the citizens of any of three homonymous ancient Greek cities named Cyme (Greek Κύμη, also spelled "Cuma" or "Cumae"): Cyme in Euboea, Cyme in Aeolis (Asia Minor), and Cumae in Italy. According to the Greek geographer Pausanias, the Cymaeans of Aeolis helped the Phocians establish the neighbouring colony of Phocaea by giving them land. The Italian colony Cumae was founded by Cymaeans and Chalkideans from Euboea.
