The name Cymaeans may refer to the
citizen s of any of threehomonym ous ancient Greek cities namedCyme (Greek Κύμη, also spelled "Cuma" or "Cumae"): Cyme inEuboea , Cyme inAeolis (Asia Minor ), andCumae in Italy. According to the Greek geographer Pausanias, the Cymaeans of Aeolis helped thePhocians establish the neighbouring colony ofPhocaea by giving them land. The Italian colony Cumae was founded by Cymaeans and Chalkideans from Euboea.See also
