116th Street is a local station on the IND Eighth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 116th Street and Eighth Avenue in the Manhattan neighborhood of Harlem, it is served by the NYCS|C train (all times except late nights), by the NYCS|B train (weekdays), and by the NYCS|A train (late nights).
Each end of the station has one platform-level mezzanine with two sets of stairs to the street, with no crossover or crossunder. This station and 135th Street are the only two stations on the Eighth Avenue Line north of 59th Street that do not permit free transfers between opposite directions. There is evidence on both sides of an abandoned part-time entrance at the north end by West 118th Street.
