He was drafted by theSt. Louis Cardinals in the 2nd round of the by|1993 amateur draft. He made his major league debut onJuly 7 , by|1996 as a member of the A's versus the California Angels. Since then, Witasick has been mainly used as a middle-reliever and, in addition to the A's and Devil Rays, he has played for theKansas City Royals ,San Diego Padres ,New York Yankees ,San Francisco Giants , andColorado Rockies . In his time with theNew York Yankees , he may be most infamous for allowing nine runs in one and two-thirdsinnings in Game 6 of the2001 World Series . OnJune 2 , by|2007, Witasick was designated for assignment by the A's and released onJune 7 , 2007. He felt that he wasn't getting enough work out of the bullpen for the A's. OnJune 12 , he was signed to a 1-year deal by theTampa Bay Devil Rays . Following the season onOctober 25 , 2007, the Devil Rays released him. It is now rumored that he will join the 2008 Susquehanna Assault of the Susquehanna Baseball League, a local semi-pro team in his resident Harford County.
