About QE
Queen Elizabeth's School is a co-educational voluntary controlled Church of England upper school (13-19). At present, there are 1300 students, including more than 350 in the Sixth Form. Queen Elizabeth's maintains a very high reputation in the local community and received an excellent OFSTED report in June 2000, reporting a further improvement on the high standards documented in 1995. Particular mention was made of the good breadth of curriculum and the provision for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Highlighted also was the maturity of students and the strong relationship that exists between them and their staff. One hundred per cent of the teaching observed was considered satisfactory by the inspectors, whilst eighty per cent was cited as good and one third very good and/or excellent. The school's student committee, "Team QE", has a mascot song: "
Under Pressure " byQueen andDavid Bowie as a moral satire aimed at staff.Mission Statement
For over five hundred years, Queen Elizabeth's School has provided education and opportunity to young people. Supported by our Minster Foundation, we continue to develop the potential of every member of the School community by encouraging, nurturing and stimulating them and by celebrating their achievements. We do this, sustained by our commitment to a shared set of values based on the Christian faith.
