Bishop Smith Catholic High School is the largest school within the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board. Located in Pembroke, Ontario, on the Ottawa River.
Approx. 1100 students from grades 8 to 12 attend the school.
National Recognition
BSCHS was recognized in 2004 by Maclean's Magazine as being one of the best schools in Canada for its Dominican Republic Experience.
Traditions
The school has a long standing tradition of taking an annual trip in September to a beach. While the location has changed a few times over the past the events and activities have not. This day is know in the school as "beach name" Day "(i.e. Nangor Day)".It is a tradition that encourages school spirit and meeting new people, due to its main event, the Giant Handshake.

Other traditions include the annual "Reindeer Hunt" which, run by the school's student council, consists of matching every student (and teachers who volunteer) up with one another and "hunting" each other down by pinning a clothes pin on an article of clothing on your "reindeer". Each round half of the student are eliminated. The final round consists of the 10 or so people who have made it and having a free-for-all style hunting battle during regular class hours. This event takes places near the Christmas break.
Building
Bishop Smith took over the newly titled East Wing, which was formerly occupied by École Secondaire Catholique Jeanne-Lajoie, in the spring of 2005. It is home to the Grade Eight students who attend the school, as well as a couple other classrooms.
