Gold Rush Park

Gold Rush Park

Gold Rush Park is a proposed park in Sacramento, CA.

About

If constructed as currently planned, it would rival some of the nation's great parks. This park would cover nearly 1,000 acres (4 km²), and would include several features common in large parks such as botanical gardens, a "canal walk", an Amphitheater, an observation tower, and a few sports fields. Other distinctive features of the park would be a kayak course and a museum district. The park is closely modelled after Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and New York City's Central Park. A major feature of the park will be 340 acres (1.4 km²) of open space.

There is some debate over whether the park is necessary, or whether it is appropriate, or whether those who own real estate in the area will be willing to contribute their land to the project. Consequently, the plan is still in basic stages and has not been approved by the city of Sacramento.
