Rolex Cosmograph

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is an officially certified, self-winding chronometer wristwatch with chronograph functions. From its beginnings in 1961, the "Cosmograph", "Cosmograph Daytona" and "Oyster Cosmograph Daytona" chronographs were produced continuously until 1988, when they were replaced with versions featuring self-winding movements, from Zenith's El Primero caliber, under the name "Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph". Since 2000, Rolex began manufacturing its own movements and developed the Rolex 4130 caliber (model number: 116520). Due to its limited production and increasing popularity, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is considered a rare watch to own. [Holbrook, John. The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is one of the only watch from a main brand for which the buyer has to wait (at least for the steel version for which supply is short ; gold ones are readily available), with buyers having to join waiting lists in order to secure one. The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is one of the most expensive watch marketed enough to be readily recognised from non-enthousiasts, and is often worn for this reason, The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona comes in several models, these can be identified by the colour of the watch face, the type of metal used, and the type of strap, these include, white gold strap with white face; and stainless steel strap with back face amongst others.
