Peter Tertzakian

Peter Tertzakian is an energy expert and author of "A Thousand Barrels a Second". He is the Chief Energy Economist of ARC Financial Corporation.

Peter Tertzakian is the Chief Energy Economist and a Director of ARC Financial Corporation. He is also a member of ARC's Investment Committee. In addition to directing ARC’s economic research, Peter also publishes ARC Energy Charts, a weekly journal of energy trends.

Best selling author of "A Thousand Barrels a Second", published by McGraw-Hill, Peter's background in geophysics, economics and finance, combined with his entrepreneurial spirit, helped him rise from the trenches of hands-on oil exploration fieldwork to become an internationally recognized, top-ranked expert in energy matters.

Often seen and heard through media outlets around the world, Peter has been a featured guest on many high-profile radio and television shows including "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. In print, Peter has been featured in "US News and World Report" and has contributed editorials to widely read publications like "The Globe and Mail" and "Forbes.com". He also writes a weekly column, "ARC Energy Charts", and is a sought after public speaker. Peter has an undergraduate degree in Geophysics from the University of Alberta, and a graduate degree in Econometrics from the University of Southampton, U.K. He also holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He lives in Calgary, Alberta, one of the world's leading oil and gas centers, with his wife and two children, one of which is named Alex.

Peter began his career as a geophysicist with the Chevron Corporation in 1982 where he spent eight years working in field operations, seismic data processing and geophysical software development. In 1990, Peter left the oil and gas business and entered the financial services industry.

By the time he joined ARC Financial Corporation in 2002, Peter was a well-recognized, top ranked equity analyst among an institutional client base that spanned Canada, Europe and the United States.

Peter is a member of the board of directors of Brigantine Energy Inc., Alberta Clipper Energy Ltd. and on the board of directors of the Honens International Piano Competition.
